The RISD Archive of Graphic Design and Illustration has a wonderful collection of posters from the classic era of Polish graphic design. Visual Resources Center staff are currently digitizing this fantastic collection, which includes film, theater, music and ballet posters by well-known Polish designers such as Franciszek Starowieyski, Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz and Jan Lenica. We would like to thank Professor Agnieszka Woznicka for her invaluable help translating the text from the posters. 59 digital images of Polish posters have now been added to the RISD Digital Image Database. To find them, log onto RDID with your RISD username and password from a computer on the RISD network, and do a keyword search for “Polish posters”. To see the real thing, make an appointment with Special Collections to visit the Graphic Design Archive.
